Orville began showing in the 1950's at many
of the shows in the Ottawa Valley as well as exhibiting at the Royal
Agricultural Winter Fair in the 1960's. He showed a horse called Lee
Mann successfully. He also exhibited Red Demon under saddle in 1949
-- so roadster under saddle is not a newer class.
His son, Wayne, along with his wife Shirley and their family,
continues to show road horses as well as road ponies and
Saddlebreds. Wayne exhibited The Bootlegger at the Royal as well as
many local fairs. In 1985, Wayne won the under class as well as the
Open Stake at Richmond Fair with him. He has also had the privilege
of driving Ellery and winning the Wagon Stake at the Royal in both
1988 and 1989. Wayne is currently the 2nd Vice President of the
CRHA.
The tradition continues with daughter Kerri Brown's win with The
Messenger in the 2002 OHHA $15,000 Green Roadster Classic at the
Royal as well as their successful showing of The Maverick.
